5 Best Rice Cookers on Amazon, According to Hyperenthusiastic Reviewers

Spread the love

Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews and lots of ‘em) products and single out the most convincing. While we’ve written about the best slow cookers, pressure cookers, and even a certain idiotproof rice cooker, here we’re going deep on all the best rice cookers on Amazon. (Note that reviews have been edited for length and clarity.)

1- Best rice cooker with steam basket

iger JAZ-A10U-FH 5.5-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer with Steam Basket, Floral White4.2 stars,

“The Tiger company, I heard, is one of the best companies for rice cookers. And it’s true! I love this rice cooker. It is easy to clean, it can cook a lot of rice, and the rice tastes great, too. It comes out a lot better than when I had to cook rice on a stove. It’s also really easy to use: the inside of the pot has line markers for how much water to add, a steamer is included, as is a cup to scoop rice with, and there’s only two settings (’keep warm’ and ‘cook rice’), so you’re not confused by a bunch of different buttons.”

2- Best Japanese rice cooker

Zojirushi NS-TSC10 5-1/2-Cup (Uncooked) Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer, 1.0-Liter$144(was $192, now 25% off)4.4 stars,

“I can make rice, just not as good as this fella. Just wish I had realized exactly how big of a machine this is. Realizing just HOW MUCH rice it makes was a bit of surprise, since it’s just two of us. But go big or go home … right? I was able to make absolutely perfect sushi rice straight out the gate with no worries, and usually if I’m making sushi and prepping fillings and additions, I’m hoping the rice will be good. I’ll never have to worry again. It was PERFECT, and I probably did a few things wrong. Now, I just need to adopt a few hungry orphans.”

3- Best digital rice cooker

Zojirushi NS-ZCC18 10-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker, 1.8-Liters, Premium White4.6 stars,

“This thing is great: The rice comes out consistent and perfect every time, regardless of type or quantity. Easy to clean. Retractable cord is awesome and has never jammed or failed to retract. Side-mounted rice paddle is a nice touch. Digital clock on display stays on when not plugged in, which is useful. Very simple to use. It sings to you … I guess ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ is a strange melody to have on a rice maker, but that’s not really a con, just an observation.”

4- Best ceramic rice cooker

Aroma Housewares ARC-6206C Ceramic Rice Cooker/Multicooker, White$100(was $130, now 23% off)4.4 stars, 189 reviews

“I am thoroughly enjoying this cooker. And I LOVE the ceramic bowl! I feel better cooking with a bowl that is not Teflon–coated. This cooker is easy to operate and VERY easy to clean, as all the parts are removable. I used to have a Zojirushi rice cooker, which was very good, but very expensive. It worked great until the timer failed and could not be replaced. So I am sold on the Aroma Housewares cooker.”

5- Best multifunction rice cooker

Aroma Housewares 20 Cup Cooked Digital Rice Cooker, Slow Cooker, Food Steamer4.4 stars, 3,965 reviews

“I’m a simple guy who is terrible at cooking rice and has to feed a family of six regularly. This rice cooker is awesome, and I question why I waited so long to buy one. Sure, you could get a better one by dropping a couple hundred bucks on a fancy model, but for what this does, it does it well. It takes about 35 minutes to cook rice for that many people. I’ve also cooked other things in the rice cooker like a beef stew and chili. A pot roast only took about four hours to cook and the meat was just falling apart. SO GOOOOD!”
